Motorcycle Recall: BMW reverse gear control unit
Announced 2026-10-07 · NHTSA
BMW is recalling about 4,630 model year 2021-2024 R 18 motorcycles equipped with the optional reverse gear because a seal in the reverse gear control unit may deteriorate and allow moisture, which can cause the unit to overheat. Dealers will replace the reverse gear control unit free of charge, and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 27, 2026. This recall references a prior recall 24V716, and motorcycles repaired under that recall will need the new repair.
